Lightning In A Bottle records is pleased to announce the addition of Portland OR based blues vocalist Ms Vee to the LiABR family of artists. She is currently in pre-production on her LIABR debut album, yet to be titled, and scheduled for release on Lightning In A Bottle records later this year. Vee will be producing her album together with LIABR founder, Timmer Blakely, and recording is scheduled to begin this fall at Portland's Bug Studio. She will be tracking with the PNW configuration of Ms Vee and a Badass Band, which she launched in January of 2023, featuring Jake Koprowski on bass, Chance Hayden on guitar, Ron Solomon keys/organ, and Brian Foxworth on drums. This summer, Ms Vee will be featured on the LIABR revue at the '24 Portland Waterfront Blues Festival, along side LIABR label mates Seattle based Polly O'Keary and the Rhythm Method, and New Orleans based GeminiiDRAGON and Cristian Simeon.
The LIABR crew first encountered Ms Vee in Memphis TN while competing in the Blues Foundations ‘21 International Blues Challenge. LIABR artist Chad Rupp and the Sugar Roots, representing the Cascade Blues Association, competed against Ms Vee and a Badass Band, representing the Granite State Blues Society, at Alfred’s on Beale st. Ms Vee went on to advance to the IBC finals that year. Ms Vee's most recent recording project was with Lightning In a Bottle records artist Chad Rupp on his ‘23 LIABR release "The Devil Won't Get You". Ms Vee lent lead vocals on the sultry duet with Chad "I've Been Thinking". She also sang vocals on the albums singles "The Devil Won't Get You" and "You're Not My Baby". She is scheduled to lay some backing vocal tracks on Chad’s next, yet unnamed, album currently in production.
Ms. Vee was born and raised in Forrest City Arkansas. At the age of 10, Ms Vee began her musical journey as a piano student at Lorenzo's School of Contemporary Music in Forrest City Arkansas. Founded by Lorenzo Smith and Jackie Toney Smith. Quickly realizing her ear for music, Lorenzo added Ms Vee to his blues/jazz band at just 10 years old. She continued her professional career in music, serving as Minister of Music/Music Director for several East Arkansas Churches. Ms Vee later went on to pursue a solo career in music and later comedy. As a result, Ms Vee's style of Soul Blues is infused with black southern gospel and a lot of soul! In 2018, Ms Vee launched her own music project, founding Ms Vee and a Badass Band.
Ms Vee brings a focus to Southern Soul/Soul-Blues' Mississippi Delta/Arkansas Blues sound, by marrying soul, funk, and rhythm & blues to create the Blues-Soul Sound of Original Badass Music as well as covers of soul greats like Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Johnnie Taylor, Bobby Rush, Bill Withers, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and more!
Ms Vee is the mother of two amazing sons, Arreon and Spenser Lewis (Berlin, New Hampshire) and is the current Vice President of the American Federation of Musicians Local 99.
